Traditional medicine primarily uses relatively strong drugs to bring relief to those who suffer from anxiety. While the drugs do provide a degree of relief, some of the complications make one wonder if it is really worthwhile.

There is another way, however, and this article will show you how acupuncture can help anxiety.

Acupuncture In The United States

The Food and Drug Administration in 1996 officially welcomed acupuncture into the United States. Since that time, many have found it to be beneficial in quite a variety of ways, including for anxiety.

Many who practice the use of acupuncture are medical doctors who now combine it, into their medical practice. There are now over 20,000 certified practitioners in the United States.

While it has been tested both in the United States and England, it still remains a little on the outside - partly because people don't like needles. Alternatives to the needles now use more hi-tech methods - acupressure and mild lasers, which they say has about the same effect.

How Does It Work?

The basic idea of how it works is a little foreign to the minds of those of of us who live in the West. Still, the idea is interesting. They believe that the body, when healthy, allows the free flow of energy, called qi (chi) throughout the body.

The energy, they say, flows through 12 channels, called meridians, where the streams of chi come together and intersect. When there is a restriction of chi, the result are symptoms, and health problems.

Acupuncture, through the use of the needles, works on those points where the channels intersect, to unblock the flow of chi.

Those of us that live over on this side of the ocean might replace chi with the words life-force. With that restoration of the proper flow of the life force, the body can then begin to use its natural self-healing mechanisms. Acupuncture specialists often also use herbal remedies as part of a treatment program.

Modern research has shown that acupuncture stimulates the body to release chemicals in your body called endorphins. Endorphins are your body's natural pain-relievers. They may have something to do with how acupuncture helps to relieve anxiety.

Treating Anxiety

Many of the treatments for anxiety largely involve the acupuncture points found on the ear. However, studies have shown, with various control groups, that only particular areas of the ear bring any noticeable difference.

But the differences were rather amazing. While doctors still do not know why it works, they do know that there are measurable differences.

The patients that had the correct areas of the ear needled, were those that had a significant reduction in anxiety and stress-levels.

Acupuncture works on both the physical and the emotional states to bring about a general good state of well-being. It also works for other emotional problems, too.

Before you visit your local acupuncturist for depression, however, make sure that they are certified by your state.

Acupuncture Treatments

A couple of nice things about acupuncture is:

? Many insurance companies now cover it ? It is drug free - though your doctor may desire you to continue ? It uses natural healing

The average treatment can last anywhere from a couple of minutes, up to about an hour - with no negative after-effects.

Spite Isn?t A Dog Thing ? Separation Anxiety Is

Do You Suffer From Fearful Thoughts?? IF YES THEN CLICK HERE

>>  Cure Your Anxiety and Panic Attack INSTANTLY -- Click Here <<

Dog owners, when they get together, will tell stories of their amazing, brilliant, astonishing and misbehaving dogs. How many times have you heard about the pet who, displeased by its owners? absence, left a ?present? of the most unpleasant kind?

The truth is ? he didn?t do it out of spite. Dogs aren?t people. People are the only animals that have an idea of ?spite,? ?revenge,? or ?getting even.? That?s not to say that dogs don?t have emotions ? any dog owner knows better. But most will agree that dogs aren?t planners ? they live completely in the moment - a skill humans can only attempt.

The only time to correct a dog for improper behavior is when you catch the dog in the act. Revisiting the scene of the crime doesn?t help. The dog doesn?t remember committing the crime. Yelling at the dog when you find the mess teaches the dog that finding a mess is bad. Therefore, in dog logic, it will learn to hide the mess, not refrain from creating it.

If you?ve been tempted to accuse your dog of ?spiteful? behavior because it does leave messes when you?re gone, it?s time to rethink what?s going on. Your dog isn?t telling you that it?s angry you left ? it?s telling you it?s anxious and unsure when you?re not there.

It?s been said many times that dogs are pack animals. If you are the leader of the pack ? as you should be ? then your dog is, for its entire life, a juvenile member of the group. Your dog may be a victim of separation anxiety; it doesn?t know what to do when its leader isn?t there to tell him.

Now that we understand, somewhat, how a dog thinks, we can use that to create the behavior we want. Crate training your dog is a good way to alleviate many sources of anxiety ? both yours and your dog?s. A crate, or cage, is civilization?s answer to a cave or den. Your dog can feel safe and secure in its den. A crate should be big enough to allow the dog to stand up, turn around, and lie down. That?s it.

Don?t project your claustrophobia onto your dog. It likes feeling safe, secure and enclosed. It likes not being responsible for checking out every noise. It?s happy when it has no decisions to make. Never let a dog make a decision ? it will choose wrong.

There are people who resist the idea of a crate. They think they are being kind to the dog. And there are some dogs who do not need their crates past puppyhood. But if your dog is prone to separation anxiety, you?ll both be better off with a crate. If you?ve never used a crate, or put it away as your dog matured, introduce it gradually. Leave it out, door open. Feed the dog in the crate. Throw toys into the crate for it to fetch. Never, ever use the crate as punishment, nor as a substitute for a trip outside to eliminate. Dogs shouldn?t be left alone more than six to eight hours. If your schedule requires an animal to be left alone 10 or 12 hours a day ? get a dogwalker, or settle for a cat.

When you begin crate training, only leave the dog in the crate for a few minutes. Have a special treat or toy that the dog gets only in his crate. Many people use a hollow rubber toy with a bit of peanut butter or soft cheese spread inside. Happily tell your dog it?s time to ?kennel,? (the word you choose doesn?t matter, just be consistent) and put the toy in the crate.

If the dog doesn?t come ? go get it. Never tell your dog to ?come? to you for something it doesn?t enjoy. Place it in the crate, close the latch and walk away. Just a few minutes the first time. If the dog whines or cries, ignore it. When it?s quiet, let the dog out and tell her she?s wonderful.

Build up the time your dog is left in the crate gradually. Conventional wisdom says that the first 15 minutes are the best indicator. If the dog settles within that time he?ll be fine. And you?ll both be happy ? Fido has no decisions to make, and you?ll have no messes to clean. Anxiety and Sleep Problems

Do You Suffer From Fearful Thoughts?? IF YES THEN CLICK HERE

>>  Cure Your Anxiety and Panic Attack INSTANTLY -- Click Here <<

I was recently discussing the subject of anxiety, stress, and sleep problems with a couple of my friends. All three of us had struggled with these issues and had experienced nervous breakdowns, stress leaves from work, anxiety medication and/or sleeping pills. Today we are all living without medication, and have found our own unique ways of successfully dealing with stress and anxiety. Our conversation made me think of how different each of us is. My friends and I all discovered methods to reduce stress and anxiety, and all three of us ultimately found success using a different routine. This shouldn't be too surprising, seeing that my friends and I all have different occupations, hobbies, family situations, body types, fitness levels, personalities, etc. Some found that intense physical exertion was helpful, where others found success with lighter aerobic exercise. Meditation and aromatherapy was seen by some as a cure, and to others as boring and pointless.

Unfortunately, the literature on stress and sleep disorders generally offers the same advice for everyone, and rarely points out that there are no blanket remedies. If you don't realize that stress and sleep remedies are individualistic, and may work better for some than for others, you may cause yourself a lot of frustration and (ironically) stress.

I've found most of the stress and sleep disorder remedy advice I've read on websites and in books to be helpful. At the same time, people should realize that only a small number of these tips may actually work for them.

My advice would be to try a variety of exercises and methods for sleep and anxiety. If you find something works, stick with it, but if it is not helping, move on and try something else. Don't get frustrated if the first few methods you try don't work for you. Remember, you are unique, and many of the stress and sleep tips you find may not be for you. Keep on searching and trying different methods, you'll eventually come across a system that will work for you.

Relieving Christmas Anxiety for Children

Do You Suffer From Fearful Thoughts?? IF YES THEN CLICK HERE

>>  Cure Your Anxiety and Panic Attack INSTANTLY -- Click Here <<

For a child, Christmas is the most exciting holiday of all. They look forward to the Christmas tree, lights, presents, stockings, make-believe Santa Claus, wishlists, snowmen & many more aspects. It is easy for adults to forget how excited children become when the arrival of Christmas draws near. Of course the children only seem to think about the presents, but it is actually more than that. What child doesn't enjoy visiting a store just to watch a toy train go around and around the fake Christmas tree? What about the snow and the snowmen they build? Or the lights that blink or sing songs? Maybe it is the cookies grandma makes? Or Aunt Lily's beef roast? Or the warm pajamas they are in when they run down to check what it is their stockings? Or is it the enchanting story about the newborn long ago who was actually the Son of God?
Whatever the case may be, Christmas is the most exciting holiday for most youngsters. It is a combination of magic (lights, snowmen, snowflakes, etc), family, good food, presents & stories. Everyone remembers how important the holiday was to them once, but somehow we have forgotten how wonderful it really is. Rather than worrying about what present we are going to buy Aunt Martha, we should be enjoying the holiday. Why not take Johnny & go sledding today?

This is why it is crucial that we get all of our holiday shopping done early. I usually start my shopping in September, and I like to have most presents bought by the 1st of December. This way, I can relax during the wonderful holiday. Why not create memories instead of sharing your stress? If you enjoy the holiday, your child will enjoy it ten times more.

Create a plan which will acomplish two tasks. The first "task" your plan will accomplish is to help your child wait for Christmas. The second and most important goal is that it will help you remember why the holiday is so special. Remember that fun time with your child doesn't have to cost money. Create a plan to do one special thing every day for the 24 days before Christmas (starting December 25th). Your plan may look like the following:

1. Make homemade Christmas cards with your child and mail them to grandparents. Maybe incluce a photo of your child.

2. Make a Christmas wishlist with your child and mail it to the relatives.

3. Build a Snowman with your child or have a snow fight.

4. Make homemade Christmas ornaments.

5. Set up the Nativity and read the story of Jesus. Let your child "act out the story" with the figurines.

6. Make Christmas cookies or fudge with your child.

7. Go to the store and let your child pick out a gift to give to the needy.

8. Create a relaxing atmosphere. Turn off all of the lights except the Chritmas tree lights. Then use candles and/or a fire in the fireplace to create a warm enviroment. Make some apple cider or hot cocoa. Then spend the evening reading stories to your child.

9. Wrap presents with your child and put them under the tree.

10. Go out to eat. Let your child choose where you plan to eat.

11. Put together a puzzle with your child.

12. Teach your child a new card game.

13. Go to a Movie Theater & Buy a big tub of buttered popcorn. (It's ok. Indulge yourself). Can't afford the Movie Theatre? Make up a pretend movie theatre at home! Make popcorn, rent a movie and use fake money & fake paper movie tickets.

14. Visit a grandparents house.

15. Make your child's favorite meal.

16. Make paper snowflakes together and hang them in the window.

17. Have each member of the family make notes for all of the other family members. Inside the notes, write a letter to that family member which includes what you appreciate about that family member. Then seal the envelope and decorate it with stickers. Young family members can draw pictures for each member of the family.

18. Dust off the Christmas Carol CD and play it.

19. Remember to plan a night out with your husband to get to know each other better. Leave the children with a FUN babysitter. Allow the children to order out pizza or go see a movie.

20. Make sure all of your presents are bought and wrapped. Let your child participate in putting together all of the last minute preparations.

21. Decorate your yard for the arrival of relatives.

22. Let your child help you bake the food.

23. Declare the day a NO VIDEO GAMES ALLOWED day. Prepare fun activities for the two of you to do all day.

24. Visit relatives or prepare a fun time together at home.

Whatever activities you plan, they will help both you and your child focus on the fun times you can enjoy in preparation for the holiday season.

Depression, Anxiety and other phobias are part of our psychological phenomenon in the medical science. Depression is caused due to chemical imbalance in the nervous system of a person. This is concerned with psychological conditioning of the patient. On the other note, Anxiety is caused due to the imbalance in the body of a person. Anxiety is concerned with the emotional behavior of the patient.

Though Depression and Anxiety are two disorder forms of the same category, they have different symptoms. Feeling of hopelessness, negativity, lack of concentration, feeling of guilt and decrease in energy are some of the common symptoms of Depression. While, tension of day to day work, dizziness, nausea, difficulty in breathing and light headedness are few common symptoms of Anxiety.

There are many forms of Depression and Anxiety. Panic Attacks, Social Disorders, Specific Phobias are the types of Anxieties. Psychological Predisposition and Environmental Stresses are the types of Depressions. All these symptoms can cause hazardous diseases in the long run. So, you should take extra care of yourself, if you are suffering from either of these troubles.

Depression and Anxiety can not be fully cured, but can be treated for sure with the help of proper medication and therapies. The medical practitioners hold few sessions to understand the mental conditioning of the patient and suggest appropriate medical aid.
Anti-Depressants, Anti-Anxiety medications and other types of medications are aimed at alleviating symptoms of Depression and Anxiety. When the treatment fails in the case of Depression, then Electroconvulsive Therapy has been proved to be successful in the treatment. Many of the Self-Help Support Groups help people in treating their problems by making them sit with others and hear the other experiences to get out of the situation.
Depression and Anxiety is more common in women than in men. If one man out of ten is suffering from these problems, its one woman out of four is facing Depression or Anxiety disorders. A patient can overcome these situations only with his strong will to recover.
