Pets Home Alone - Separation Anxiety

Do You Suffer From Fearful Thoughts?? IF YES THEN CLICK HERE

>>  Cure Your Anxiety and Panic Attack INSTANTLY -- Click Here <<

Once again, a new school year has begun. Consequently, some parents are dealing with separation anxiety issues with their children. And, with busier school and activity schedules, it's also the time when pet parents may begin to notice separation anxiety symptoms in their companion animals, too.

The most common definition of separation anxiety is that when left alone, your pet exhibits destructive behaviors. There are differences of opinion among pet professionals regarding the diagnosis and treatment of this complex behavioral issue, but all are trying to achieve the same result - the reduction and/or elimination of these destructive and harmful behaviors. The information presented here is intended to help you identify whether your companion animal might be suffering from your absence, and to provide some idea of available treatment options.

Although more common in canines, separation anxiety can be exhibited in both dogs and cats. In dogs, the destructive behaviors can include: constant barking; destroying furniture; chewing doors or the walls; ripping apart books; urinating and/or defecating in the house; and self-abuse (like chewing their paws raw). In cats, separation anxiety manifests itself in any of the following ways: indoor spraying; urinating or defecating in closets or on clothes; refusing to eat or drink; and hiding from you when you are at home.

Professionals attribute separation anxiety to a wide array of internal or external causes, or a combination of both. External causes range from changes in the environment, a lack of exercise or stimulation, and changes in behavior of the pet parents. Internal causes can include illness, persistent pain, nervousness, being in season and negative physiological changes due to poor diet.

To determine whether your companion animal might be suffering from separation anxiety, ask yourself these questions:

* Does your pet exhibit unusual behavior when you are getting ready to leave the home?

* Does the destructive behavior occur only when you are not at home?

* Does your pet greet you frantically, following closely wherever you go when you are home?

If all of these are true for your pet, you could be dealing with separation anxiety. Once you have established that your companion might be experiencing separation anxiety, it's critical that you are aware of the following:

* Do not punish your pet when you arrive home and discover the damage - this will only aggravate the problem.

* Do not bring another pet into your home. Introducing another being at this time will only add additional stress. Although it seems logical (i.e., your anxious pet will now have a companion), the separation anxiety is due to your absence.

* Do not make a big production out of leaving or entering your home. There is strong support for a relationship between your displays of heightened emotion at these times and the destructive behavior of your companion animal.

There are numerous training techniques that can help you deal with this pressing issue. These usually incorporate desensitization strategies as well as changes in your own behavior. We advise consulting a professional trainer or animal behaviorist for the best way to deal with your unique situation.

As with all training, affecting behavioral changes takes time. Here are some short-term solutions that can help to alleviate these symptoms while you are away from home.

* Have a friend or relative care for your pet.

* Place your pet in a day care facility.

* Bring your pet to work.

If none of these options are available to you, there are other stress reducers you can try on your own. When leaving your home, give your dog a toy (be sure it's one that's safe for him or her to have without supervision) like a treat ball - this will keep your dog occupied and provide a source of pleasure and gratification that your dog will learn to associate with your absence. For cats, make sure they have unobstructed views through windows, use a water fountain, play soft music or a DVD with birds and butterflies to engage their attention. For both dogs and cats, try leaving a pillowcase or a recently-worn article of clothing in an area where they commonly stay - just the smell of you may bring them some comfort.

The time you spend now addressing this issue could save you and your companion animal grief and distress in the future. If you suspect that your companion animal is experiencing separation anxiety, we strongly recommend you speak with your vet and a trainer with whom you feel comfortable. With patience, persistence and a lot of love, you can help your pet overcome this syndrome.

The Condition of Anxiety

Do You Suffer From Fearful Thoughts?? IF YES THEN CLICK HERE

We have all experienced the sensation of being "called into action" by nervousness. It creates an increased feeling of excitement and it acts to heighten our realizations. Nervousness is a normal condition that serves to make us more aware and focused.

Anxiety differs from nervousness because it often occurs for no apparent reason and is persistent. It does not promote positive response to circumstance. If not recognized and dealt with effectively, anxiety will interfere with daily life and may even become chronic.

Anxiety may lead to avoidance of places or situations where it has occurred. This includes avoidance of any similar circumstances due to a process of negative association. The effect of this kind of association to the experience of anxiety can severely distort an individual's decision-making abilities. The perceived risk of having another attack may even prevent them from engaging in beneficial activity.

In an attempt to understand what anxiety is, or why it has occurred, a person may repeatedly go to an emergency room or see several doctors. Some people may go for years without understanding what they are experiencing and live in constant fear as a result of their own unknowingness.

Some of the most well known classifications of anxiety include; Panic Disorder, Obsessive-Compulsiveness, Post-Traumatic Stress and various Phobias. The following will provide some insight into these classifications.

Panic:

Panic is a feeling of terror and is often referred to as an "attack." A person who experiences this type of anxiety may report any or all of the following symptoms:

* A pounding heart
* Feeling sweaty, weak, faint or dizzy
* Tingling or numbness of their hands
* Flushed or chilled sensations of their body
* Nausea
* Chest pain
* Smothering sensations
* A sense of loss of reality or control
* Fear of impending doom
* Thoughts that they are experiencing a heart attack
* Feeling as though they are losing their mind
* Fearing that they are on the verge of death

Obsessive-Compulsiveness:

A person dealing with Obsessive-Compulsiveness feels unable to control their thoughts, urges or activities. The term Obsessive refers to the disturbing thoughts or images while Compulsiveness refers to the behaviors or rituals performed. Some examples of this type of anxiety include:

* Being obsessed with germs, causing a person to repeatedly wash their hands
* Frequent thoughts of violence, causing a person to fear that they will harm others
* Spending long periods of time touching things or counting
* Being pre-occupied by order or symmetry
* Having persistent thoughts of performing sexual acts that they find repulsive
* Having thoughts that are against their religious beliefs

Post Traumatic Stress:

Post Traumatic Stress is associated with an event that the individual has experienced. A person may have persistent frightening thoughts and memories of the event. They may feel emotionally numb toward people they were once close to. This type of anxiety may also include any or all of the following:

* Nightmares and disturbing recollections
* Sleep problems
* Feelings of detachment
* Being easily startled
* Loss of interest in usual activities
* Difficulty with affection
* Irritability
* Aggressiveness or even violence
* Avoidance of certain places or situations that could trigger memories

Phobias:

Phobias are a type of anxiety that are experienced as overwhelming and excessive fear. Phobic reactions include:

* Uncontrollable fear
* Profuse sweating
* Trembling
* Nausea
* Difficulty talking
* Fatigue
* Headaches
* Muscle aches
* Difficulty swallowing
* Irritability
* Hot flashes
* Lightheadedness
* Inability to concentrate

Help with Anxiety:

Many people suffering with anxiety can benefit by sharing their problems with others. This can be accomplished by talking with friends or attending support groups. There are many professionals who can help. Involvement with a like-minded online community would also be beneficial, as it would allow for an avenue of self-expression. It would also help to decrease one's sense of isolation. In addition to certain medications, which may be prescribed for the treatment of anxiety, learning how to relax and meditate can help improve coping ability and provide increased feelings of self control.

Ways To Deal With Social Anxiety

Do You Suffer From Fearful Thoughts?? IF YES THEN CLICK HERE

>>  Cure Your Anxiety and Panic Attack INSTANTLY -- Click Here <<

Social Anxiety Disorder is a Psychiatric disorder that attacks one out of every eight Americans. Those who have the disorder can become physically sick in social situations. This disorder can devastate more than your self esteem, it can destroy your marriage, finances and many other aspects of your life. The disorder is characterized by fear of social situations.

There is help for people suffering with this disorder. If you seek treatment, you will be able to obtain medications, counseling and support group information to help cope with this psychiatric disorder. After seeking treatment, there are things that you can do to help alleviate stressful social situations and ways to begin to reacquaint yourself with friends and family members.

First, read everything you can on the disorder. Visit your local library and check out books on the subject. Then, check out books with topics on building self-esteem, positive thinking, public speaking, anything that you think will empower you to gain more confidence. You can not just ?snap your fingers? and have this disorder just disappear You need to read everything you can on the subject and subjects that will help you re-build your own self-worth.

2) Start and maintain a daily, weekly, and monthly journal. In the daily journal write down where you are right now in your life. Write about any and all social situations. How did you feel in those social situations? How do you think other people reacted to you and how did you react to them? Did you feel sick today when you were in the social situation?

At the end of the week, summarize your set-backs and itemize your progress. At the end of the month, write two pages in your journal. The first page should summarize any difficult situations and how you overcame the situation, or how you dealt with it. The second page should summarize the social events and social situations where you felt comfortable and why you felt comfortable. How did you feel overall? While this may seem to be a waste of time, the journals will help you face and overcome your fears.

3) Set social goals for yourself and follow through on them. If you are extremely uneasy at the mall, then go to the mall and walk in. Then walk out, immediately. If your social anxiety seems to attack you when you are in the middle of a crowded building, walk to the center of the crowd, and immediately turn and walk away. Take small practical steps at the start and them move on to the more challenging issues you may have.

Finally, always talk to your Doctor openly and honestly. Take your medication and try to overcome your social anxiety so that you can experience the life that you deserve to live at the very fullest. Stressful social situations happen to everyone at some point in their lives and one out of every eight people know how you feel to be living with something much worse than 'one social situation', you are not alone at all and though there is little comfort in knowing that you aren?t alone , do know that you are understood.

Top 5 Ways To Demolishing Performance Anxiety

Do You Suffer From Fearful Thoughts?? IF YES THEN CLICK HERE

>>  Cure Your Anxiety and Panic Attack INSTANTLY -- Click Here <<

Have you ever found yourself performing on stage and the person in the front row is tapping his feat and you wonder whether you're maintaining the beat? As you are looking around, do you see a few people whispering and chatting away to each other? Do you get worried what they are discussing? Perhaps your image isn't right - your hair has moved out of place, or if you're singing, your voice is a little croaky. If you're wearing a trouser, do they see your zip undone? Maybe they are discussing how strangely your talent is showing through? Or are they commenting on what you've missed out?

Have you ever found yourself performing on stage and the person in the front row is tapping his feat and you wonder whether you're maintaining the beat? As you are looking around, do you see a few people whispering and chatting away to each other? Do you get worried what they are discussing? Perhaps your image isn't right - your hair has moved out of place, or if you're singing, your voice is a little croaky. If you're wearing a trouser, do they see your zip undone? Maybe they are discussing how strangely your talent is showing through? Or are they commenting on what you've missed out?

Perhaps you make several mistakes and your students, teachers, parents, partners are watching. What are they going to say later? Are they going to be very disappointed? Do you think about the rest of the crowd - will they demand their money back? Your hands are sweaty, shaking, and cold - it's all visible from afar! Are you sure this is really what you are meant to be doing?

Stop there! Are you feeling like this? Have you ever felt similar to this? First of all, let me make it clear that you're not alone. Performance anxiety exists with so many people from various professions to various levels. It all begins when our mind wanders and loses the concentration that you need.

As a musician, I used to experience a lot of this at times when I found it hard to play at various places however I've come up with the top 5 ways for me to get over any anxiety I have and play with unstoppable confidence!

Here are my top 5 ways to demolishing performance anxiety:

Number 1: You have practiced to the best of your ability
This is key. Ensure you remind, or constantly tell yourself that you have practiced well enough before your performance. For this particular performance, you are ready and going to give the audience the show of their life! Perhaps your playing can be better than what you think but for this situation, you are ready to go.

Number 2: Don't Guess!
If you see people tapping their feet, talking to each other, or anything else, don't second guess. You will probably be wrong anyhow as it's your perception (remember no 1 at this point)! Your guesses normally prove to be inaccurate and if you let it be with you it will remove you from continuing to portray your feelings.

Number 3: Don't Self-Judge
If you see anything happening in the audience or from your performance, don't judge for yourself. Remember from Number 1, you are out to give the audience the show of their life - don't spoil it especially when you don't know what it is! Don't Self-Judge! Doing this will take your out of the moment and destroys the flow of your music. How about just observing without describing in your head? See the immense difference it does to you!

Number 4: Be On Stage!
I don't mean just appear on stage and perform; I mean really be on stage! Use your power of your mind and see yourself on stage, not in the audience. Remember, you are giving to the audience, not receiving. Get into that mode. You have the chance to show your beloved talent to so many people - make the most of the opportunity! Remember, you are in the music and in the moment. Don't let any of the above stop that. You cannot be the performer and listener at the same time. Let the audience develop their thoughts for themselves.

Number 5: Enjoy!
Each performance you have is valuable as it will further the promotion of your music or your instrument around the world. So many people will hear about the wonders you have created so remember, performance anxiety is easy to be rid of. I've done it, and so have thousands more musicians. Now we all enjoy performing anywhere we go. Do the same, and enjoy your performance. Let the adrenaline and your genuine lively passion for the music come through.

I suggest you look through and work through these top 5 ways of demolishing performance anxiety before each performance so you get maximum benefit.

Check out much more detail about overcoming performance anxiety in the low cost personal and professional development for musicians course called 'Express Yourself' which I have written write here: http://www.coachkavit.com/ey.htm This course can be obtained via email, post or 121 coaching with musicians coach Kavit Haria himself. Fear and Anxiety: They Are No Match For Hypnosis

Do You Suffer From Fearful Thoughts?? IF YES THEN CLICK HERE

>>  Cure Your Anxiety and Panic Attack INSTANTLY -- Click Here <<

Many people struggle each day with fear and anxiety. Were not talking about being afraid that you didnt pass your last test or anxiety over a job interview. Anxiety and fear become deep rooted elements of a persons life and can create havoc in relationships and make it impossible to function on a day to day basis.

Anxiety often creates a snowball effect of emotions that take place when something, even the smallest thing, goes wrong in a persons life. For example, for someone struggling with anxiety, even the minutest intrusion can throw his or her entire day out of line.

Lets say you are getting ready for work and your cat throws up on your carpet. Automatically your mind starts racing. This means you are going to be late for work, which means your boss is going to think you are irresponsible, which means you are never going to get the raise you need to buy your first home which means you are going to be stuck in an apartment forever and your whole financial life is ruined. In an instant cat vomit is equated to a destroyed life for someone dealing with anxiety.

Fear Is Often Related To Anxiety.

Individuals often become afraid of things that have led them to anxiety in the past. The individual in the above example may never look at cats the same way again. Fear leads to the avoidance of things that people fear and can create havoc in their lives such as the example given above. People may become phobic of snakes, spiders, clowns, chickens and many other things.

A New Approach

Perhaps you are someone struggling with fear and anxiety. You may have tried different methods including counseling and anti-anxiety medications to make it go away but nothing has worked. You may have spent hours in the self-help section of your local bookstore with no luck.

You still have one more option available to try and that is hypnosis. No, hypnosis does not mean that you are put into a trance by a freaky man with a pocket watch. The problem with basic therapy is that it simply uses the conscious portion of your brain. The conscious part is the portion that controls and assists you with day-to-day thought processes.

The purpose of hypnotism is to relax the conscious level of the brain and subdue it so that the subconscious portion is allowed to come forward. What is the subconscious? The subconscious mind is that portion of your brain that takes care of your automatic day-to-day business such as riding a bicycle. You have done it so many times that conscious though is no longer required for these tasks.

Once the subconscious is accessible to the hypnotist, he or she will work with you to rewire your subconscious. For example, if you are afraid of spiders, a hypnotist can help you relate spiders to something light and funny instead of something to be afraid of. Over time, you will learn that you are significantly bigger than your fears and can overcome them all through hypnotherapy!
